Haha, the Trooper got killed. Bet they didn't mean for that to happen. Yeah, I also am disappointed that the Trooper doesn't have a Vibrosword or something, as the AI Troopers all do. I think they should add them, as undoubtedly Troopers may have to get up close and personal, and you don't want to go hitting a Sith with the butt of your Rifle.

I'm sure troopers, and ALL non-force using classes will get vibroswords, if only to combat jedi/sith.

did you notice we got a glipse of the Death system, i know it's pre alpha so it's all subject to train but when the trooper dies he got 2 options,

1. Revive at Medcentre
2.Debug mode revivie

obviously the second options isn't going to be in the game it's jsut there for the developers to test things out without dying constantly. but it ;looks like you die and wake up in a medcentre and probably take damage to equipment or some otehr pen

well my dear typho, im pretty sad to say so but even in the first second of the footage they said trooper was a range class, and i think that unless the last 2 class are melee, most will be ranged except for the jedis/sith. its the era of the blasters after all, im not saying i agree 100% but its the gun time so its kinda the inverse from mediaval mmo where close-combat dominated.

you can see tho that a lot of the range class got tools to keep up with the melee one, then again then havent showed everything for the range class and they've also said its obvious each class needed some melee counters.

so like for trooper, BH and stuff like that, i not really sure you'll be able to really duke it out in melee with the same efficiecy a jedi would, but probably will have skills to compensate enough.

now my personnal note about the troopers : it looks cooler than bounty hunter in my opinion. i mean if we compare both footage. i might even switch my mind to trooper as it still fit phyrex and might less represented than bounty hunter. killing the FotM class with the non-FotM class would be so funny since im the kind to stick with something even throught darkness

well only time will tell.

p.s.: may i suggest the council create a poll and a topic about which kind of server we would like to be on ? assuming theres the usual one and then we would pick the closest depending on the members choice. there would be pve, pvp, rp and rppvp

well Phyrex you can find that poll here I'm rather surprised you haven't seen it yet.

The ranged classes will need to have some sort of melee class otherwise they will stand no chance against Sith/Jedi if they get close.

I'll admit phyrex, when I saw the trooper footage, the first two members I thought of was Rex and you!

Well, any era of Star Wars has predominantly been an area of blasters, but the Troopers should always carry Vibroswords into battle. They did in KotOR and TSL. And that's still in the Old Republic era, so why not now?

I also thin it would be foolish to allow the AI Troopers to carry Vibroswords and not the Player Troopers. It's like saying the Player Bounty Hunter isn't allowed to use a Flamethrower while the AI is. Pretty stupid.

yeah it is typho, i dont really know what to say. only thing that i can for sure tell you, is that in the trooper footage, they say he's a range class (i saw someone say range tank ?! shoo you damn trinity!!) and they mention he had some skills to counter when in melee. but judging by a rifle stock's smash, id be surprised if they really got further except for maybe some few other melee counters.

on the other side, while they said he's a range class, we dont know yet how character customization will be done, so maybe you will be able to specialize in melee combat (probably to the detrimental of range tho)

edit : we saw trooper wield vibroblade only agaisnt the sith warriors, and while i was wondering why the trooper didint make some distance to shoot, maybe its only for gameplay matters so the sith warrior dont get kited by mere mobs, which would give sens that pc trooper cant really do fencing
